Arriva is now running a new service, the 452, that links the Berkeley Homes Ryewood development with Sevenoaks Rail Station and the town centre.

Residents of Dunton Green and Riverhead will also benefit from the half-hourly service that runs in addition to the existing services provided by Arriva.

Commenting on the new service, Alex Davies, Senior Development Manager, Berkeley Homes, said: “We are pleased to be able to work with Arriva to deliver this new extended bus service to the residents of Ryewood and Dunton Green. It forms part of our commitment to the local community to improve sustainable transport links in the area.”

As well as giving an enhanced daytime service with more frequent buses, the existing commuter buses from Chipstead and Riverhead have been incorporated into the service, with extra journeys now running in the morning and evening for commuters using Sevenoaks Station. Those journeys have been extended into Sevenoaks town centre and are now also serving Dunton Green and Ryewood.

Arriva’s Regional Publicity Manager, Richard Lewis, said “We are very pleased that our working partnership with Berkeley Homes has enabled us to implement significant improvements to our network of bus services in the Sevenoaks area.

“The service to Ryewood means that buses will be available to new residents the moment they move in and the enhanced frequency through Dunton Green and Riverhead will hopefully encourage more people to consider using the bus for some of their local journeys in these days of high petrol prices.

”Our full range of Sevenoaks area day, weekly and four-weekly tickets are valid for travel on Service 452 and the tickets can be bought on the bus, from local shops or via mobile phones!”

The new service was given a send-off by representatives of Berkeley Homes, Arriva, Kent County Council, Sevenoaks Rail Travellers’ Association and the Chairman of Sevenoaks District Council, Councillor Dee Morris.

Councillor Morris welcomed the introduction of the 452 bus and said “’I am so pleased, on behalf of Sevenoaks residents, to see the new and improved transport links in Dunton Green and Riverhead. This is an example of good partnership working by Arriva and Berkeley Homes, giving commuters and shoppers living at the new development of Ryewood a direct route to the station and the town.’
